“Conoscere i luoghi, per capire le persone e le loro storie… conoscere le persone e le loro storie, per capire i luoghi”.
Venerdì scorso c'è stata la presentazione del libro "Malaria" di Massimo Lerose, giovane scrittore di Terracina. Il racconto, edito per i tipi di Prospettiva Editrice, è un thriller storico ambientato tra Terracina e la Palude Pontina, con l'azione che si svolge in parallelo fra il 1500 ed il 2006. La copertina è opera mia. Acquerello (tanto) e matita (poca) !!
Postcards from Lisboa #7 - Going To Sintra
In Lisbon, we met Pedro in person. We contacted him via email, and then we scheduled a meeting there, in his hometown. Pedro has a blog (O Bonecos de Bolso) where he posts drawings taken from live, mainly from Lisbon, but not all. He was really nice and hospitable to us. The first evening, just arrived, he gave us some practical tips on transportation, place to visit and locations. Tips that make you save time and money and make everything easier.
Furthermore during the days of our visit, just in front of our hotel there was a beautiful book fair, where there was the presentation of "Diarios de Viagem", a collective book about travel sketchbooks concepted by Eduardo Salavisa, and which contains also works of Simonetta Capecchi (curator of the annual exhibition "In Viaggio con il Taccuino", during these days in Naples). In addition to the book presentation, there was a seminar, which, together Pedro and Eduardo, were also Monica Cid and José Louro, sketchers and bloggers too.
Of course I went there, and the whole bunch has been affectionate and friendly. Interested in our point of views and our impressions, and about my sketches taken in Lisboa. Eduardo and Pedro sketched and signed my personal copy of the book, with really beautiful drawing. It’ll also further beautiful memories of this trip and the people we know.
So following Pedro’s advice, we tripped to Sintra, a pretty tourist town on the hills near Lisbon, but very beautiful and interesting. Arrived there we decided to hike up to Muslim Fort, from where it could see on one hand, the Palácio Nacional da Pena and on other a beautiful view over the town and its surroundings. Many forests, houses of every style and strangeness, surrounded by green vegetation. And more wonderful sweet pastries at the historic "La Piriquita", all accompanied with a small glass of Ginginha, which has made us far more cheerful the coming back to Lisbon.
